Did a nice E rep call you offering a great deal HBO for 2 cents a month? Because your a special customer with the deluxe package?

If you fell for it well it never existed:(

I went for it and HBO came in at normal price:(

It appears the E rep was either under great pressure to make some sales, or working on commision. Either way this is the one time I think the jerk should be fired so he is made a example of.

Such stupidity can cost the company subscribers..........

So if you got or get the call check your bill!!!!

Weren't the other two threads in the subscribers-only forum?

And why would he think it was a scam no matter how ridiculous the price was? It was, after all, a Dish employee that called him, because it got turned on.

Exactly.

Cut him some slack. The other thread was in the Pub - which you all should be members of, but since so many are not, this is getting the issue out to the much broader population.

Stimpson/stevend yes, the other threads are in the pub-member area, so maybe 1 thread consolidated out here is necessary for others. If you read the whole story, the idea does not seem too good to be true. Some providers do offer stuff like this if you are a long sub with a high priced pack etc. Offering a slighly higher price for extra stuff over all is pretty common. I have in the past been offerred similar things from cable companies etc.

Boba, I think you are a bit out of line with your comment. If a person called me and offerred me a similar deal and I had to provide no identifying info, yet they knew what I had on my account etc and HBO did get turned on, I would expect it to be legit. I don't blame anyone that fell for the offer, but like Bob and the others that did, they were smart to check the billing info shortly afterward.

edit:
Ok, rocky stated what I was typing while I typed it.

Also, I like it being out here, Dish is going to have to do something to remedy this PR problem. Nothing more than a statement stating what happened and a short apology, but this kind of PR on this site is not good IMO based on Dish's bad billing system and practices in the past
