2010-11 MLB Hot Stove

There were rumors at the time that Cashman did not want to spend big dollars on Mark Texeira, but was overruled on that too. That worked out pretty well.

There's nothing wrong with spending tons of money, unless you have supposedly been given "full control" of the baseball operations and would rather spend that money somewhere else and not lose a top draft pick.

The opt-out clause is interesting also. If a closer opportunity presents itself Soriano is free to walk after one year.

From ESPN.com:

Sources: Rays add former Red Sox

Looks like someone at Tampa Bay went to the Gene Autry School of Mismanagement.

Reds sign Johnny Cueto to a 4 year contract.

Its good to see that Tampa Bay is well back to being Tampa Bay where palyers go to get that last paycheck before retireing

The Rays may have regressed with the defections of Crawford, Garza, Bartlett, Pena, Wheeler, et al, but as a Red Sox fan, I'm not looking forward to facing Manny and Damon 19 times in 2011!

Good move for you guys, bad move for the rest of the AL Central.

Jimbo, you don't like what Dombrowski has done this off season? He's shored up the bullpen, added Brad Penny to the rotation, and put solid bats on both sides of Cabrera. On paper they look very solid. especially the pitching, which is what really matters in MLB.

I have no problem with what Dombrowski has done this off season ... really don't think he did anything for our SS position, just don't care for Peralta I guess .... Still need to upgrade the SS position.

That said, I was just commenting on the Thome signing as a good one for the Twins.

Man, this thing with Albert Pujols is getting dicey as hell for the Cardinals...

...and the BEST line of article is this:

Albert Pujols will veto any trade proposal from the St. Louis Cardinals, sources say - ESPN
