Nick Lidstrom, in a couple of ways, reminds me somewhat of Brett Favre, if only for these interesting coincidences:

Both debuted in their respective leagues in 1991

Both won a title in 1997 after years of knocking on the door of a championship w/close but no cigar teams

Both have been able to excel as they get older

Lidstrom won't fake his retirement every year.

He's talked about going back home and raise his kids earlier in his career, later to decide that Here (USA ) was now his home and was fine with them growing up here.

He also has been very solid over all of his years.
The number of Norris Trophy's he's won shows that , there were several that I thought he should have won early in his career.

Lidstrom is so steady, you hardly notice him, unfortunately there will come a time when he will no longer be there on the Wings D and Wings fans will then realize how great he has been.

Take time to enjoy him while he's still here. :D

Congratulations to the Red Wings and their fans. Phoenix was not an easy out, even with losing Doan. Detroit knows how to win, that's for sure.

Would have liked to have seen a more competitive game seven, there is nothing in the world like a close Stanley Cup Playoffs game seven, but the Wings earned their breathing room.

Hopefully Canadians/Caps is a barnburner tonight.

***GULP*** GO HABS  ***GULP*** :D

Seriously, I'd much rather the Bruins open up at the Garden against the Flyers, than play the first two against the Pens at the Igloo............

In the east I just want to see a rematch of Pens-Caps, but that would mean Boston loses, and I'd like to see Marco Sturm get deep in the playoffs.

I just returned from Phoenix after attending Game 7 last night - needless to say...it was great! Amazing coincidence how I needed to fly-out to our Tucson office to discuss a new business opportunity. :) Anyway, my brother picked-up a half-dozen tickets for Games 3 and 4 - looking forward to the upcoming series with San Jose.

As usual there were a good number of Wings fans at Game 7. I have mixed feelings about the Coyote fans - nice show of support follwing the game, but a number of fans were booing during the 2nd period and at least two rubes tossed beer bottels onto the ice.

Would be great to see the Habs advance, their crowd is insanely loud. Don't see it happening in Washington, but that's why you play the game!

As of this mornings talk radio show in the D, I don't think they have worked out what networks will be showing what games.

My understanding NBC has a stake, VS. has 2 games guaranteed exclusively to themselves, CBC has a stake, and I'm sure the FSN's have their slice as well
