Wow! What a finish. The most difficult climb finish in any tour. I never thought Froome would win, yet alone blow everyone away in the process.

Not only does he expand his overall lead, he also takes over King of the Mountain (KOM) leadership as well.

I haven't seen a performance like this since Lance Armstrong.

Today's stage is individual 20 mile climbing time trial. The riders will not be using time trial bikes. Most will just use their racing bikes and put some tri bars on them. There is noway they will be able to climb hills in time trial bikes and make decent time.

There are two CAT 2 climbs in the time trial

Climbing leaders. Nieve is wearing the Polka Dot Jersey even though he is in third because Froome is wearing the yellow (overall) and Quintana is wearing the white (youth rider)'

Today's stage was the most difficult climbing stage in all of the Tour's history. Two laps up this road in the Alpe-d'Huez.

I would love to do this climb and even love the decent even more. They are doing it twice.

Yesterday's stage was one of the best stages I have ever seen.

Froome and Porte were fined for illegal feeding on the last climb. Froome sent Porte back to get water and food for him in a non feeding section of the race

Vangarderen, and American rider, was leading handily. On an descent after the first HC climb, his chain came off. The time it took for him to get it fixed put him well behind. He then caught back up with the other two in his original breakaway, Moser and Riblon (a native Frenchman), and then went ahead of them by about 5 minutes on the last HC climb. The energy he used catching up to them after his breakdown cost him on the last climb as Riblon passed with about 2 km left (flew by him) him and won handily.

This was after Riblon went into the ditch, caught back up, took a wrong angle and had to bunny hop a curb.

Video:

On the last climb a fan was running along side of Vandarderen and he was shoved into him by another fan. Vandarderen almost lost it as he shoved the fan out of his way and turned around to yell at him. This too may have cost him.

No, they are not getting fresh with each other. This is another example of two riders from opposing teams congratulating each other for each one assisting the other in certain parts of the race. No rider will ever succeed on his own. They all need help from their team or from other riders in a breakaway.
