I would agree with that, yet that being said, still leaves me with Tennessee as overrated. Dont mean they are great. I think Oregon will steamroll Buckeyes, hope Im wrong. Lost of boring( and lopsided) games this holiday season, collage, and pro.

Winners of games 1 & 4 get a bye week in the second round. earn your bye
plus as a fan you get to see the top teams play each other right out the gate.
I expect the seeding will be changed asap, to make the Top 4 the teams that actually are the top 4, not the Top conference winners.The Aussies have it right in their sports.

I lost interest a long time ago. I barely watched any games this season even from the local regional teams I usual liked to watch.
They need to go back to the traditional 8-10 team conferences. Play everyone in your conference and 1-2 other FBS teams. Make a couple preseason games to play fcs is they want to keep funding the lower division with meaningless games.
Do away with conference championship games. Take the conference champions and maybe the top 2 remaining highest ranked remaining teams to round out a 12-14 team tournament and incorporate it into the existing bowls with the championship game on or close to New Year's.
Make the conference games and bowl games mean something again. This crap with the committee picking their favorites and changing the criteria every year is just gonna push fans away.
Otherwise admit they are now just a mini NFL and break it into 2 conferences with divisions using the current 4 power conferences and setup playoffs like the nfl and do away with the espn controlled bowl system.
As it is now I have no interest in watching anything other than the occasional game and highlights.

I like the concept of your idea. But I still enjoy watching collage football.

It really doesn't matter, it should be a good game regardless ... Who ever wins it, it shouldn't be considered an Upset, some will make it to be one.
If both teams play Thier game, Buckeyes should win.
Who'd have thought, Several Big Ten teams left (Ohio State and Penn State) and only 1 SEC team (Georgia) left ....
And Texas from the Big something last year and Oregon from the Pac something ....
Both of those teams did better than most would have expected in thier new Conference.
Its going to come down to, Day staying out of Chip Kelly's and Jim Knowles way, let them do thier thing and watch and manage the game .... Back before Knowles came to town, if you watched Iowa State, they were VERY good defensively the 3rd year in his system, takes awhile to learn and implement the system ...
After the 1st Oregon game, Day told Knowles, something had to change, he released the rest of his (or at least part of) system and they have been cooking for the most part since then.
For those that are going to again bring up the TTUN ... they scored13 points, had 2 scoring drive and approx 20 yards on those drives ... had a interception that got spotted inside the 10 and they scored. the rest was a few FG's.

Some exhales of relief from the polling folks. B10 is justifying their rankings at the moment. Alabama justified not being in the playoff. Still possible to have an all "SEC" final though.
I would have never thought that a Big Ten team would be in for sure, unless Texas knocks off a B10 team, that will happen.
Usually the playoffs are sec flavored with as many as they can get in there.
