I Pray this NEVER happens ....
Do you really think the 32nd or 64th team is capable of winning the whole thing ?

That would take about 2 months of playoffs, remember this isn't basketball where you can play 2 or 3 games a week.

I KNOW the local team (generally one of the top teams in the MAC would have NO prayer in playing against the Big Boys for 4 games ... maybe 1, they do win thier share of the games against the Top division .... howevr if they had to play games against them every week, it would Never happen.

What Should happen is the Group of 5 schools should have thier own playoff system, this way they have a fair chance at a Championship.

You never know what can happen until you try it. Every year there are smaller schools that upset the "big boys" in those pay to show up games. Is it likely? Probably not, but I'd rather see that go on than watch all these bowl games we have now with the opt outs, etc. The majority of the spots would still come from the Group of 5 and it wouldn't take that much longer than what we do now.

If you eliminated the Conference Championships you would start out the first weekend in December, in this case, December 5th/6th. If you started with 32 teams you'd have a slate of 16 total games airing across the usual networks. Next weekend would've been 16 teams remaining, so another 8 games and so on. Playing every week (depending on where Christmas actually falls) you could have the entire thing done earlier than when the National Championship is played now..

32 teams waters down from the Elite to the just being there with no chance teams ...
Then again, I didn't want 12 teams, definitely not 16 or more unfortunately, they will continue to water the season down and add more teams ...

I would have been ok with 8 teams, at least 8 teams actually have a chance to win it all.

Typically theres only a hand ful of teams that have a realistic chance anyways ... occasionally you have a teams get good and take the place of another ...
2 years ago, if I said Indiana would be ranked #1, you'd have laughed at me ... Vanderbilt in the top 20 ?

The fact that you have teams playing that will play and hope to come out of the game with no devastating injuries, thats what happens when Group of 5 teams play the big boys ... MAC schools and other smaller schools that step up and play the Big Boys on occasion ... they ONLY play them for the Pay check.

That was then, this is now. NIL and transfer portal have changed the playing field.
Your right, now any very good players playing for Group of 5 teams transfer to Power 5 schools.

How many times do you see players leaving a Power 5 school for lack of breaking the starting line up and dropping down to a G5 schools ?
Very rare .... they move from P5 to P5 normally.
