222k setup help connecting to DVD recorder

Can't seem to be able to figure this one out, your help would be much appreciated.

Not to picky about either component, composite or just coaxial. Can't seem to figure out how to get a picture to the DVD recorder *without having to turn the DVD recorder on first* which I don't really care to do.

Is their any other way?

I have one cable coming to TV1, one to TV2 and one for the TV distribution. Currently have composite from 222k to the TV.

HDMI from receiver to TV, Composite from receiver to DVD burner along with audio cables.

This is for my parents, and they only have a SD tv.

RCA from receivers TV1 to TV, RCA from TV out to DVD burner along with audio cables. or buy a couple of RCA cables that allow more than 1 connection.
