264 - SW Download - what did it fix?

Hi all,

When I turned on my 811 this morning, there was a message on the screen saying that there was a free software upgrade available, and asking if I wanted to download the update. I hit Yes or Okay or whatever it was to confirm, and the 811 turned itself off.

I turned it back on and didn't see anything different at all. I went to the System Info screen and the software version is still 263 and the 1010LADD is still there. So I guess I did not get the update.

I keep checking in the New Features but so far all it says is that there are no new features available.

Am I doing something wrong?

Set the box to update without permission and turn it off for 20-30 minutes.

Just curious... If you're going to use an OTA antenna for
analog locals, why on EARTH would you also pay DISH
for something you're already getting for free??

Since I don't own a 921, then if I want to DVR any network programming, I need locals on DISH.

So why the fuss about OTA analog? Arent you getting them via dish?

I get locals for free in my package anyway, and my wife would not be pleased if I used the OTA, and she lost the guide, and pvr capability for locals.
