311 reciever just turns off

so i get a new reciever.--solo 311

long story short. i also put up a new dish 500 on the roof--replacing the old one dish up there.

anyway--go to hook things up and my reciever just keeps turning on and off--kind of mind of its own. this reciever is brand new.

can't watch tv or nothing?

any ideas --whats going on.

Disconnect the antenna cable from the back of the receiver and see if the problem continues. If the problems stops, it maybe a short in the cable or a bad lnb at the dish. Good luck.

Is the dish known to be pointed correctly? If the receiver has corrupt firmware, it will just sit and blink slowly, while in the background it's looking for a satellite signal containing new firmware. If that is what has happened, you can connect it to a known good dish system, power up and wait a couple of hours. If this is your problem and your dish isn't pointed correctly (you did say you replaced it) then it will never find the new firmware.

i got it working--how i have no idea. i bypassed some cables in the basement- and went straigt in.
