I have a DISH 500 quad lnb. I currently have 4 TVs with receivers. I would like to add a 322 to get a 5Th TV on this one (quad) lnb
I have the following.
DPP44 switch (I was told I needed this)
4- standard receivers
3-322 receivers

I just want to hook up an additional TV and thought using the dual tuner would work. Seems like there is alot of people on this with good experience with Dish just hope one of you can put me on the right course. Would love to do this with what I have. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you may have 7 receivers, and was thinking about buying a 8th receiver?

In any case, I believe you can use Ports 1 & 2, or Ports 3, & 4 of the DP Quad to feed a DPP-44, which will allow you to feed 4 TV's with 4 receivers that are either single or dual tuner receivers. Since you have 2 Ports left on the Quad, you now have 4 choices for a 5th TV:
-- (1) Run 1 cable from the Quad to feed a single tuner receiver; or
-- (2) Run 2 cables from the Quad to feed 2 single tuner receivers or 1 dual tuner receiver; or

-- (3) Add a DP-34 to the side of the DPP-44, and run 1 or 2 cables as needed; or
-- (4) Add a DPP-44 to the side of the DPP-44, and run 1 cable for either a single or dual tuner receiver.

Here's a link with plenty of documents: http://www.solidsignal.tv/dishpro_installation.asp
See Page 11 on this link on the Quad: http://www.solidsignal.tv/dishnetwo...des/DISH_Pro_Quad_LNBF_Installation_Guide.pdf
See Page 16 and 17 of 20 for the Quad and Switches: http://www.solidsignal.tv/dishnetwo...ments/Introduction_to_DISH_Pro_Technology.pdf

It's late, but I believe the above links will help you decide which way is best for you.

EDIT: Plenty of more documents: http://www.satelliteone.com/dish/support/support.html
--- And if you need 48 tuners: http://www.satelliteone.com/dish/support/dpplus/DISH_Pro_Plus_44_Switch_D.pdf

NOTE: If you are using more than 2 satellite locations, or you need more options with receivers, be a little more specific and I'm sure someone will respond.

Hope this helps.

I want to replace one of my standard receivers with the 322 I have. I want to have the ability to run two TVs off one receiver. I have 3-322 and 4 standard receivers but only the 4 standard are hooked up and running. I came across the 3-322 and just thought I could use them. Any help would be appreciated. Just need a wiring diagram to do this. Hard to describe what I need to do when I am not sure how to. Thanks to all for the help

To replace a single tuner receiver with a 322 dual tuner receiver will require two cables instead of one; unless you have a DishPro Plus setup, such as using the DPP-44. However, if you currently only have a Quad and 4 receivers hooked up, the possibility exist that you have a Legacy Quad, and the 4 single tuner receivers are also legacy. If so, that Legacy Quad will not work with the DPP-44.

EDIT: If your current QUAD LNBF has a black DP on the back, it is a DishPro Quad; if no black DP on the back, it is a Legacy Quad and will need to be replaced to use the DPP-44.

So I think the best solution would be to get a DishPro Dual LNBF to replace the Legacy Quad; and then it will work with the DPP-44. Then as papalittle said, using the DPP-44, you could feed 3 322's which will allow you to feed 6 TV's. Plus the DPP-44 will have 1 port left that you can feed 1 of your current receivers (possibly for a 7th TV), regardless if it is a Legacy, DishPro, or even another DishPro Plus Dual Tuner (for 8 TV's).

In fact, you may decide to:
(1) If main TV has PIP, then use 1 322 for its dual tuners;
(2) A 2nd 322 for TV 2;
(3) A 3rd 322 for TV 3 & 4; and
(4) A standard receiver for TV 5.
This will only require backfeeding to one TV (TV 4).

Here's a quick link with a DP Dual LNBF, DPP-44, and 1 dual tuner TV (bottom right corner): http://www.solidsignal.tv/dishnetwo...cts-Single_Cable_Dual-Tuner_Installations.pdf

Yes, I do have the Dish Pro Quad lnb. As I see it I need to use the DP44 and at least one splitter (Dish calls them DPP Separator)
Can I buy the equivalent splitter at Home Depot or Radio Shack. hat would I be looking for?
Thanks for all the great advice

I believe all you need is a 44 dpp switch, 3 SEPERATORS. call your local retailer and see if they have any sperators around you can get. do not get splitters.

You mean DP Twin, as shown in the diagram you linked to. A Dual sees only one satellite.

gad260, the DPP Separator is not a splitter, it's a diplexer that breaks out the DishPro stacked frequency range.

Thanks BobaBird, guess I hadn't had my coffee yet!

gad260, as said - I meant DP Twin. However, since your Quad is a DishPro Quad, it will work with the DPP-44 that you have already purchased, so you are good here.

As papalittle said, 3 DPP Separators will allow you to hook up each of the 3 322's you have, that is, hooking up the 322 properly with full functions with a single cable to each.

I now assume your 4 "Standard" receivers are "DishPro Single Tuner" receivers and not legacy.

So you could just install the DPP-44 between 3 of your current receivers and the DP Quad. Then you need to procure a DPP Separator in order to hook up a 322, so that it will work properly on a single cable and feed two TV's.

In some applications, you may be able to swap certain equipment around that is similar; but as said, you can not swap the DP Plus Separator with any splitter and/or diplexer, you need a DPP Separator. Below are 3 links, with different prices and shipping costs, if you can not find one locally. Some Radio Shacks may carry it while others can order it.

If you're using a DP Plus 44 switch with DP Quad LNB, you must remember the following:

The 2 cables running from the Quad LNB to the 44 switch must be hooked up to either Ports 1 & 4 or Ports 2 & 3 on the Quad LNB or the receiver(s) won't read the satellites correctly when a check switch is performed.

If you ever look a DP Twin LNB, the ports are always in the 1 & 4 positions or the 2 & 3 positions.

Also keep in mind that the 322 boxes are SUPPOSED to be connected to a phone line, or you will incure a $5.00 per month, per receiver charge from Dish Network. Considering this, you may have to install phone jacks in the rooms with the receivers.

The chart on Page 26, says either 1 & 2, or 3 & 4, when using a DishPro Switch.

Two Questions
1. Do the cables from the LNB have to be in sequence? LNB is on roof and not sure how to tell which one is which when I am in the basement where all the connections are made. Could I not just hook all four to the DP44 or do they need a particular order?? If so what would be the easiest way Ohm meter and mark them??

2. I have the separators on the way. Does it matter where they are in relation to the receiver. Could I have it 30 feet from DP44 and 1 foot from receiver? (just trying to save on cable expense.

That's what I thought too until one day when I was upgrading a Dish 500 to a Dish 1000 last spring.

Of course I had a DP dual in the 129 slot and I put a DP Quad in the 119 & 110 slots. Had the cables hooked-up to ports 1 & 2 going to a DP switch (honestly can't remember if it was a DP 34 or 44), but the receivers wouldn't read the satellites correctly (don't remember what results exactly were showing of the check-switch screen.)

Gave my FSM a call and he said try ports 1 & 3. So I started to do it when it dawned on me how the DP Twins LNBs are designed with their ports in the 1 & 4 positions or the 2 & 3 positions. Hooked the cables up to the 1 & 4 ports and the receivers read the satellites correctly.

That was either the 1st or 2nd Dish 1000 install I did and realized that day from them on it would be easier just to use 3 DP Dual LNBs on a Dish 1000 if there is already a DP 34 or 44 switch in use.

If you're wondering why I didn't just use a DP Twin LNB to start, it is because we were out of them at that time in the warehouse.
