Yesterday (Saturday) morning it was connected to the ethernet just fine. Suddenly later that day it did NOT want to connect to the ethernet, even though it read that an ethernet cable was in there. I tried plugging it directly to the modem, and it didn't help. I went to my cable company and swapped the modem. I connected the TiVo to ethernet, and it worked, temporarily. I connected the TiVo directly to the ethernet again, and again it didn't work. And like I said, it recognizes that there is an ethernet cord in there. I also tried SEVERAL ethernet cords. They work with my other devices, but not my TiVo Edge. What's going on?

Ok, this happened to my Tivo Roamio a 2 years ago, so I switched it to wireless by unplugging the ethernet cable. I then ordered this, with intentions to plug it into the Roamios USB port, and go back to ethernet cable. Amazon.com

I received the adapter, and before plugging it into the Tivo, I tried the ethernet cable back into the built-in ethernet port. It suddenly worked again! It's continued to work to this day, so I'm not sure what happened. I think the port somehow got temporarily "stunned" and just stopped working. Disconnecting it for the couple days it took to order and receive the usb adapter, somehow made the port start working again.

Maybe that'll also work for you, or maybe you can order and try the usb ethernet adapter. Maybe it'll work in the Edge model also.

I have a hunch on what happened. I have a Linksys VPN router with ExpressVPN built-in. Although I almost never have the VPN turned on, I am a Beta tester, and I am thinking it was a Beta update that caused it. Could I be right?
