I take it you are giving your setup the wind test test this afternoon. It's blowing like mad here in the heights. Im seeing 35 to 40 mph gusts.

What is the stuff installers use to seal the area around coax point of entry? The Comcast guy used it to seal his RG6 run for broadband. I want to do that for my antenna line..

It's like a clear plastic goo that hardens in a short period of time
It's called "Coax-Seal". I keep a couple rolls, as it always comes in handy.

I would be concerned with the heat and its effect on bending of the PVC. I would think at the 1-1/2" O.D. even Schedule 80 wouldn't be stiff enough to prevent movement in a strong wind. It might be too much movement and deteriorate ATSC reception if it's much more than 4' long.
For what it's worth, I've been using a piece of 1-1/4 white PVC well pipe to mount a 90cm dish to a 4x4 post as a temporary mount. Almost 9 years later it's still there and has not degraded in the sun (CT sun might not be as harsh as in NM, but still, that thing is in the sun for most of the day)

One of my coworkers found a 6-foot piece of top rail in the garage today.

How far are you from the towers? Are there any obstacles in the way?
I'm about 45 miles from the towers. There are some trees but i tried from 8 feet from the ground up to 20 feet in the air, it would pick up all of the uhf stations with 100% signal but nothing on the VHF stations.

Did you know that many LED lightbulbs (when lit), and even some power supply bricks can completely and totally wipe out your VHF reception due to electrical interference some of them produce?

Please enter your zip code here and share you map. There are a lot of variables in terrain here. Your accurate position may allow us to make reasonable recommendations.

Can anybody with a mind for engineering help
me come up with a way to use my existing setup but get the antenna out from under the balcony? Perhaps some kind of extension from the pole? When I hold the antenna out about a foot over the ledge my signal improves dramatically, but I'm limited by the reach of the small J-pole.

Two ideas for you.

There are a bunch of extended mounting Arms on Amazon designed for Starlink dishes, but they should be able to handle a short length of pole and the smaller antenna you're using:

My other suggestion would be this extended DirecTV mount? Amazon.com

You'd have to figure out a way to attach them to the pole, or could you possibly build a wooden platform that rested on top of the balcony edge, and then extended down to the floor of the balcony?

If this one won't work, check his other ones: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2564382308...19RPVB&hash=item3bb4e8df44:g:PVkAAOSwGJ9hZg~1

Sorry, we are getting a new kitchen installed, and I did the demolition, and then had to be around for the installer guy. Haven't had time to read the forum much lately. They wanted $8k JUST for the demolition!!! So I did it...
