3D is so last year! It's all about 4K now!

I'm looking forward to getting a 4K TV in a year or two after prices have come down. Prices being this reasonable this early is a very good sign of competitive pricing to come.
I am really thinking 3D is not catching on and is going to go by the way side, I really enjoy movies in 3D and some games, seems like 4K will be moved in its spot though.
4K TV's are all 3D as well.
Actually, the cheapest one (the $1299 set from Seiki) is not 3D. But I am sure most 4K sets will be 3D capable. It's really inexpensive to add the 3D capability.
3D is no longer a novelty. It's just a standard feature, like Internet capability. The cheapest TV sets may not offer it, but there is no reason not to include it on more expensive sets.

I'm betting that neither see a substantial amount of use now or in the future (unless they offer a much more upgradeable solution to TV smarts).
As a point of comparison, most TVs have very capable tuners and a great majority of them aren't getting used at all.
The same things you say about 3D were once said about the importance/relevance of CableCard and it has all but disappeared from televisions.
The difference is that although most of us don't watch 3D on a daily basis, we certainly don't mind having this feature for occasional 3D experience, while CableCard would be of absolutely no use for most of us.

Also 4k sets may make 3d happen. 3d on 4k is 1080p while 3d on 1080 p is 540p, thus 3d will look better on 4k sets.
What evidence/documentation do you have to support this?
Advancing theories is a whole lot different than making it so.
Using your argument, SD content should look better on any HDTV than it does on an SDTV.
This is only true on most passive 3D tv's. Active TV's should be 1080p all the way.
Passive yes. Active is still 1920/1080p. Then again it will depend on the type of passive used. It could very well still be 540p on a passive 4K set.

Sorry I should have stated passive.
The advantage is that glasses would be cheaper thus making a 3d Super Bowl party a less expensive sin ding.
