501 failing switch test

I recently picked up a remanufactured 501(1 year warranty).
I took out the 301, and hooked up the 501. I cannot get the receiver to pass the switch test. It only show 1 sattelite(119), and gives a warning that only 1 switch is installed.
I have superdish, with a dp34 switch. 301 to 1 tv which I swapped with this 501.
I went through the walk-through with the CSR at Dish, and she thinks it is a bad receiver cuz when I plug the 301 back in, I'm good to go.
I re-booted, reseated lines and nothing.
Any suggestions? Is this a DOA unit?
Thanks,
Matt

really does sound like a B.O.B. remaned receiver, check the center conductors length, if its more than 1/16 of an inch it could be causing a problem with the sat connection, for those that may be wondering I know what your thinking but Ive had 3 510's not show signal or have switch issues with a stinger being to long.

Its the oddest thing to see this problem with the stinger being to long, soon as I shortened it from 2/8 down to a hair above the lip of the connector the receivers worked fine.
