Last night I experienced a problem where my phone went off of the hook. We had some terrible lightning in the Dallas area and one really loud pop close to our house. After unplugging all of the phones, I plugged them back in one at a time and found out that one of my cordless phone bases was dead and when I plugged in my 501 (either 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 years old) it seemed to take the phone off of the hook. I tested the phone jack with another phone and it worked fine. I tried to do a connection test and it said that there was no dial tone. However, if I go to another phone, its playing the 'Please hang up and try again' phone message from the CO.
I've never had any problems with my 501 and the caller id display worked just an hour before the strike.
Any ideas? Is my 501 modem fried?
Guess now would be a good time for my 5 month wait for a 921 to come to an end (got on a list on 12/29/03).
