501 Trade In For A 722

Has anyone called Dish to trade in a 501 for a 722. If so what would it cost for a self install?

I just tried to do that and I have been with dish for 8 years.

508 -> 722 $150 up front plus 2 year contract @ $17 a month for it!

So a total of $558 over the 2 year contract and you still have to send it back.

Why would you want to?? 501 has NO monthly DVR fees. Unless of course you want HD.

He may want to replace the 501 because it also does not do 8PSK. Dish is expected to start phasing out such receivers, maybe starting this year. OTOH, that might be when they offer a good deal. But judging from the 721 replacement program, it is unlikely they will offer an HD receiver for an old SD box.

Forget that idea. Thanks to everyone for the input.

I would wait and see what deal they offer when they decide to upgrade the western arc to 8PSK. They may offer 622s/722s for free at that time.

They will probably just give you some refurb SD receiver such as a replacement such as the new 512.
