501 woes

Hi.

I wonder if anyone can help me out. My 501 has got locked up. The green power light and red recod light are on constantly. I have powered down the system for 10 hours, and it still has these 2 lights.

No error messages on screen.
I have tried a 5 second reset by holding the power button
I cant power it off

Any suggestions?

Unless that's what you mean by "powered down" -- just using the front panel power button doesn't do much in cases like this (or really in any case).

The "it still has these 2 lights" is what threw me off. Anyways, it sounds like it's now a brick. I can't think of anything useful to try. How long after plugging it back in does each of the two lights come on?

the 2 lights come on as soon as you re plug it in.

Call Dish. If the unit is out of warranty, which I imagine it is, get the $5.99/mo warranty plan, have them send a new/refurb 501, and cancel the warranty plan after you know the new unit works OK.

We called dish, we already have the warrenty plan so they are sending out someone tommorow to replace it. Thanks all.
