508 & 721 on dpp & dp lnb's?

I currently have a 622 hooked up to two sat dishes. I believe 110 & 119 are on the dish with the dish pro plus lnbs and that 129 is on the dish with the dish pro lnb.

My sys info screen shows the following:
H: Device:dpptwin, twin(1), twin(2), dual(3)

I don't know what switch was used because it's somewhere in the attic.

Here is my question. I own a 508 and 721 and want to connect one in a separate room. Will either of these receivers work? I am led to believe that the 721 is dpp compatible but that Dish no longer supports the 721. I was told elsewhere that the 508 is still supported, but, that it will not work with the dish pro plus gear.

I appreciate any help on clarification of this info. I just don't trust csr roulette.

Your switch is actually inside the LNB housing. No worries; either of those receivers (and even a legacy receiver) can be hooked up to a DPP twin.

"Dish no longer supports the 721" is not your case, since you used it under your existing account - just reactivate it and you good to go with it.

You have one port left on the DPP Twin so you can connect either the 508 or the 721.

Dish deactived all 721 some months ago, Dish will not reactive for you, but they may replace it with a 522 or 625 at no charge.

I left dish for 6 months(or so) with my 508 and 721 so they gave me a new account number when I came back for the 622.

I guess I'll look at the 522 or 625 option. :

update

I hooked up the 721, it took a software download sometime during the re-boot.

I called Dish, had it activated and it works.

I still don't understand the $5.00 monthly charge in addition to the 5.98 for the 622, since I own the 721, but I'll worry (maybe) about that later.

But, for now the 721 is working again.

Looks like I need to find some crow seasoning. :

I jumped the gun. The 721 worked fine if I only wanted to watch channel 101. I spent too many hours on the phone with Dish and still could not see any of my subscribed channels including locals.

So....Dish is sending me a 522 under my DHPP.

I'm a little pi__ed about my 721 not working properly, but I guess it's my own fault.

Thanks again to everyone for all of your polite help. BTW, Dish reps were also very patient.

When I try to select a channel listed in the guide, I only get a blank screen, except channel 101.

It's a card - too old revision '305'. Should be higher around 308 or 30A ( hope some lucky owners of working 721 will shime here with proper revision number). I would pressurize Dish to send you new one ( perhaps DNASP260 ).
