508 swap HD into another 508 unit ??

My receiver won't boot past the step 2 process. Screen goes green then off. Worked fine the evening before.

I have another receiver.

Can I swap out the hard drives or copy then somehow so that I don't lose the recordings I have .... AGAIN!

I don't mind going inside the box either ... just don't know what to do is all.

We could formerly rip programs off the 508 via a program called PVRExplorer. But it's currently not working for the 50x series receivers due to problems with the audio stream.

You can't swap drives because they are "married" to the receiver. If you see that the drives are the identical model, you could copy 2 sectors off the drive in the working 508 and write them over the sectors on the drive in the dead 508, and then use either drive in your working 508. Go to the Yahoo group dishmod for instructions on how to do this.
