I seem to get 139 channels on the 97.0W bird. Most of the channels I pick up have a 92% signal strength and 60%-77% signal quality.

I am using a regular Viewsat receiver to see the signal strength / quality.

But, there is one transponder I am getting 51%-53%. Although, it hasn't changed between 51%-53$ since I installed the dish last night. The weather is perfect right now. Sunny, low wind. The channel is solid reception from just looking at the video. If the satellite dish is mounted very sturdy, will I have issues with this channel when Winter comes during rain and mild to medium wind (not strong wind).

I pointed the 36" dish in a way that pretty much all the channels are available and stable at the same time.

I am using a regular Viewsat receiver to see the signal strength / quality.

Thanks in advance for any information you can offer.

yes 50% quality is fine on some of those transponders on 97W. Some are weaker than others
Also if I remember, the Viewsat meter reads low so that should be OK

These are my Q&S with E85 MultiStar. I use a TechSat Tracker II+ for 97.
The Q&S measurements where taken with a XFTP SAT-2150.

some of those quality numbers are off. The ones that show 0 you should have something

11779 is very strong and almost maxes the meter on mine. Try and nudge the dish a little to see if the numbers move. Also make sure the LNB is skewed properly

I'm wondering how my reception signal quality and strength compares to other people with a 36" dish.

Signal Strength
87% (all frequencies except for a couple exceptions)

Quality
11779 70%-80% (s=78%)
11787 80%
11789 80%
11836 85%
11867 70%-80%
11872 70%-80%

12022 85%
12053 85%
12060 80%
12084 80%
12090 85%
12115 80%
12122 80% (s=82%)
12144 85%
12146 85%
12152 85%
12155 85%
12177 85% (s=82%)

The below transponders dont appear to be transmitting anything ATM:
11894 0%
11999 0%

On my Foretc Dynamic, anything above 30 signal quality usually locks in the picture. I recently figured out that by playing with DisEqc, you can improve signal strength on most transponders

Don't follow what you mean by "playing with DisEqc". Does that mean moving a motor position?

Signal quality scales vary from one receiver brand to another and from receiver to receiver. For a given dish, LNBF and TP, one receiver might show 90% SQ and another brand might show 72% SQ.

Your TP quality numbers are all good.

I don't think you will have an issue when winter comes.

I have a stationary 31" dish aimed at 97W and mounted at my own house for the last 6 years. Never touched it since and it still works like a champ.

Harry:

What I mean by "Playing with Diseqc" is that I go to the Diseqc screen on my Fortec Dynamic, and with the remote move the motor in a sweep E/W, then in steps till I get the signal I want..For months I wasnt getting anything from ONN but I got it to pop in with a 50 Quality or more after doing this..The signal improved on RTV and other channels as well..

OK. Thanks.

That sounds like DiSEqC 1.2. You move bump the position until it's good and then save it. Correct?

I am more familiar with USALS / DiSEqC 1.3.

I have a Fortec Star Dynamic and the USAL feature works great, Have you entered your Latitude and Longitude in 3 digits as 39.7 etc? You can go to dishpointer and position the marker on the exact position of your dishes and use the Lat. and Long. read out from dishpointer.

That's pretty much what I mean..I honestly wasnt paying attention to the "version" as such, whether it was 1.2 or 1.3..It just seemed to work better..
