Can you use the USB port on the back of the 522 to do a file transfer to a computer?

The data is encrypted, and, under the DMCA, ilegal to crack.

There's folks doing it with the 501/508/510 series, tho. Yahoo groups - dishmod & dishrip.

Oh that would be cracking it. OOPs. Oh well. Just wondering. Guess you would have to have the proper equipment to utilize the USB port on the back of it. Or as alway said, "It's there for future products."

The 522 runs Linux. Dish very likely has "USB=no" (can't recall the config option exactly) when they build the kernel for it. NO equipment will make the USB connection work until the USB software is turned "on".

Nope; that works with the 721, but not the 522. I tried it myself with a USB keyboard; didn't work.
