When I view my new HDTV LED from the Side the picture looks like smoke in the picture
And when I view the HDTV head on on my Couch the Picture looks Perfect
Is there picture distortion on the Sides with LED HDTV or do I have a defective HDTV Question ?

LCDs have a fairly narrow viewing angle. When you view outside of this range, either to the sides or up and down, the brightness and contrast drop off fairly rapidly. That is what you are seeing. It is normal (but annoying) for an LCD, or LED set. BTW, both LCD and LED sets use similar display panels (LCD). The difference is in how the panels are lit. What they call LCD TVs use a fluorescent backlight behind the panel. LED sets use a series of LEDs either behind or from the side. In either case, the panel performance itself is similar.
