Now that Dish has dropped the open Daystar feed, the only way I can get it is through locals, but since those are on 148 and I use 61.5 I have not been able to get it that way.

Does anyone know if this has changed? I even had a Dish installer out a long while back (and I think I have a dish mount on my roof) to install it, before he found it wouldn't work. I am not willing to limit my choice to one or the other.

When this original attempt was made, I had 2 501s. Now I have 2 522s. Does this matter? Can the 522 do what the 501 could not do in this area?

It works for me... I don't have a 522 though. I'm looking at 61.5, 148, 110 and 119 (Dish 500) with a DPP44 switch. My receivers are 942, 721 and 510. I think there were recent software updates (at least for the 942) that allowed for this because the only way to get VOOM channels is 61.5.

Well, I am now set up for Monday (12-5) install of a dish for 148. At first I was told, "No, your receivers don't support that," but I pushed assuming that since it was mentioned here it was valid. I requested someone more experienced (she seemed rather new) and after she was gone for a while she came back and set me up for Monday. We will see if it really works, but it looks hopeful. :)

Will they replace my DP34 with a DP44? Am I correctly assuming that a DP44 supports 4 satellites?

Brad

Yes, the DPP44 supports 4 orbital locations.

Your 522 should support it if the 510 does since the 522 is newer.

I got this hooked up yesterday. The installer did have to go back to his shop since they only noted that I needed locals, not that I needed locals with SkyAngel, but once he got the DP44, everything worked great. 2 522s now get all my channels!
