622 discontinued?

Thanks for the info. So, what happens if one of my 622's breaks? Will they upgrade me to a 722 and want me to sign another 2-year DHA, or give me a refurb 622? I am out of contract now, thank heavens, and I do not want anymore extended contracts.

I got lucky and when one of my 622s died I got a 722 as a replacement.

little hint from the technician side:

you can swap a 622 out for a 722 interchangably on work orders. Some DNS locations don't even stock 622s.

So be nice to your technician and you might be happy when he leaves.

Mine too. My 622 has never had a HDMI issue or any other issue to date. Fantastic DVR for the last 22 months.

The 622/722 (as has been noted they are almost the same unit) are the best, most reliable satellite based DVR's ever made.

Good features, good performance, etc.

They are not perfect (idiot proof) as has been noted, but they are the BEST and hopefully the next generation of receivers will be an improvement over them as they were an improvement over the 921 and 942.

Okay, maybe I went a little overboard calling the 622 "junk". It's an okay HD DVR when compared to the 722, which is a stud HD DVR
However, it sure seems like a higher percentage of the 622s crap-out compared to the 722.

I totally disagree. My 625 was the best Sat DVR I've ever seen, but it didn't do HD.

Couldn't agree more. I even liked the PQ. The main reason I switched was the E* was ending Absolute.
