Hi,

I'm replacing my 622 because of the infamous HDMI port failure and
am having setup problems:

- The software download step seems to hang.

I have:

- Got a signal OK
- setup the tv1 and tv2 channels
- Performed a switch test, with OK status
- green power light is on steady.

But, the next step to download/upgrade software hangs. The instructions
say is can take 20 minutes but after an hour the status message stills says:
"aquiring satellite" It appears hung.

Anyone else seen this?

Thanks,

/Steve

Turn your receiver off (either unplug it or front panel reset...fielders choice), do another checkswitch, and that *should* allow you to do your software download. It's a common thing to have happen. Most of the 622's I install very rarely download the 1st go-'round.

What he said. :) Just reboot the thing, it's locked up trying to acquire signal.

If it's unsafe to reboot it will tell you with a message saying something like "do not unplug or disturb the receiver until this is finished"

I'll try this (again) when I get home.

I did power it off and try it again but the 1st time I had not set the TV1/TV2
channels correctly.

2nd time it hangs as well.

The screen tells not to disturb or power off, and says "aquiring ..."
So, I hope I did not screw is up by doing just that the 1st time.
(when turning on again I did get the screen showing a satellite chanel lock)

Thanks,

/Steve

Another thing you can do is press the Menu button twice to bring up the System Info screen. You can then power off with the remote and the download will start in a few seconds.

Thank all. What this turned out to be was that the switch test had not
fully completed.

This test yields a matrix summary and initially it said "OK". But the second
time I ran it I got 3-4 "OK"'s in the matrix of results. After that upgrading and
downloading ran to completion in a few minutes.
