622 HDMI problem...

...is there anyone hear who's heard of a software issue when utilizing an HDMI cable on a 622? A friend of mine bought a $100 6 ft HDMI cable and he has no video or audio. He checked the cable with another friends 211 and it worked fine. He called E* and they told him of the software issue with 622's and said to wait 2 weeks while the software issue is addressed. They would not RA the 622 back for a new one.
