I have a Separate D/A converter, It uses auto switching. The problem is that when you turn the 622 off, the optical out doesn't turn off and unfortunately the optical out of my 622 overrides the coax out of my DVD. I have to unplug the optical cable from my 622 or D/A every time I want to change back and forth. I don't suppose turning the optical out off when the rec is turned off could be done by a software update but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks,
Brad

Interesting problem.

Why the heck would they keep the optical output active after a power off?

A slightly less onerous procedure would be to run the optical output to a optical switcher, then you could switch it to another (unconnected) input, which would turn off the signal into your decoder.

Still a pain, but you wouldn't have to be connecting and disconnecting off of the back of the receiver or decoder.

Here are a couple:

And I think these have a remote control:

I've seen the first one for sale in local stores for around $20-$25. And on eBay for $15.

Anyway, that's a thought.
