...can I record my HD broadcasts on tuner 2, or should I record all my HD shows using tuner 1 for hi def playback on an HDTV and use #2 for SD programming?
Thanks,
Ward

622 has three tuners, all three can record HD. Two of the tuners are for sat feeds and the the third is for OTA feeds. Newbies confuse tuners with outputs, anything recording in HD on tuner 1 or tuner 2 output on tv1 (HDMI or Composite connections) will be shown in HD.

Yep, no need to fool with selecting tuners. TV1 & TV2 are outputs. TV1 outputs SD & HD, TV2 only outputs SD. But any HD show playing can be seen in SD on the TV hooked to TV2.

It should have 4 . For when you hook up tv 2, you still have a fully functional DVR. Able to watch and record live tv without interupting tv 2's programming.

I think he meant to say HDMI or Component, not Composite.

You mean 5... Actually, I guess you mean 6 (4 Sat & 2 OTA).:D

2 OTA & 2 Sat for TV1 so that you can watch a Sat and record a different Sat, or watch a OTA and record a different OTA; all while TV2 is recording one Sat and watching another live Sat.

Sure but atleast 4 would provide the same function as a DVR should. I don't like sharing a tuner with another tv.

There is only one OTA tuner, ATSC only.

Plus 2 satellite tuners.

Plus you could watch 2 DVR'd programs on two different TVs at the same time.

So you could have a maximum of 5 streams in play at any time. It's been done.

Tigers or Reds in HD in Northern Indiana

AT100+ and Dish HD
