622 waiting for install, will the DVR work with OTA now w/o activation?

I'm new to dish and I got my 622 box only last Friday. It is sitting in my living room waiting until 3/28 for the install . Can I at least connect up the OTA and hook to my TV to use the DVR to record and pause OTA programs? I wish I had the antenna dish so I could crawl up on the roof and install it myself.

OTA is turned off until the box is authorized.

Unlike the 942 that will work with OTA as long as it can see a Dish satellite (doesn't have to be activated).
