The beam links should all point to the TheList now with the maps and channels on the beams below the maps. Makes it a little easier to see things. Enjoy!

Thanks Digiblur!

There are the changes I reported about last week.

Surprised no BBC America HD turned on, I was kind of hoping we would see it today. I do know in talking to a few folks at Dish that is up in testing and looks good. Dish just needs to flip the switch.

Nothing added to 110 TP 19. But I didn't expect that kind of move during the day. If things are still on schedule we will see another uplink report tonight around 1am-2am central.

"Someone forgot to set these as MPEG2 SD 8PSK" - mixed bag of info:
- MPEG-2 is a compression of video stream ( ie part of SW/HW decompression of main IMDE chip), but
- 8PSK is a modulation ( treat it as HW parameter of demod chip).

So, channel's characteristic shouldn't incorporate 8PSK modulation as independent thing.

Conversely, one TMP channel was actually removed from the subscriber channel range:

5376 - TMP11 (NA) removed from Ciel-2 129W TP 27 ConUS beam
5376 - TMP11 (NA) removed from EchoStar3 61.5W TP 31 ConUS beam

:(

Not yet, I hear its coming around August 1st.

I was watching it last night and its strange how they shoot.

On most HD stations they take their SD 4x3 feed from the center of the HD picture. QVC HD does it diffrently, they take the 4x3 box and move it to the left side of the HD screen, thus the right hand side of the HD screen normally is empty with nothing in it.

As I said it looks strange. (but the PQ is good!)

You are looking at it in the wrong way.

MPEG2 SD 8PSK is my shortened version of "available on MPEG2 SD receivers that are 8PSK capable". But that's a little hard to make fit on one line of the report.

GAAAAAAH! What is the point?

I'm annoyed that they are using valuable bandwidth for QVC-HD, but to each his own. People must be watching or they wouldn't be in business. And if I DID watch shopping channels, I would want to watch in HD to see the product detail.

I also don't complain much about channels with little HD content like Comedy Central. Obviously, they can't switch all their programming at once, and some will never switch. I'm just glad that they are giving us what they have in HD and not ruining the rest with stretch-o-vision.

But QVC originates EVERYTHING out of one studio, right? Maybe two? There is literally no reason for them to have an HD feed without an HD studio. And how hard is it to convert one studio? (OK, since they are live all the time, it might be a bit difficult). My friend is a consultant that helps local stations convert, and they do it in a matter of months. And that's small stations who might not have the funds of a giant company that does nothing but generate income.

At the very least, use that screen real estate to put up more product information, like CNBC/MSNBC does. That screen shot looks like someone forgot to turn on the Chyron or something.

We are too late in the game for this placeholder BS. Get your studio running and THEN launch your feed, and THEN get carriage. And why is DISH willing to play hardball with everyone in negotiations, but is perfectly willing to put up fake HD channels. At least with Logo and BET-J, they are channels that we didn't already have.

EDIT...I just looked at that screenshot again and I totally misunderstood. I thought it was a 4:3 picture set all the way to the right side of the HD screen, with a "double pillarbox" on the left side. Oh well, my point still stands, it just doesn't apply to QVC.

I was under the impression that since Ciel-2 went up, there wasn't a shortage of bandwidth availability. Am I incorrect?

Ciel II has a bunch of spotbeams so Dish can put up more HD locals. When Echo5 was there, that was a CONUS satellite so there wasnt enough bandwidth
