Hey, I'll admit it. The 942 software can be buggy. But, I've had Directv, Voom, and now Dish Network hardware. But this 942 that I received yesterday is my favorite of them all. It is a two tuner wonder. My daughter watched her SD kiddy show, while I recorded in HD on the same machine! And when I watched my HD program, it was excellent! I couldn't tell the difference between the recorded show and what was playing currently
Also, I noticed that the 942 delivers a better picture than my old 811. The 811's pixels always managed to sneak through to the surface. This 942 upconverts and presents a very smooth, clean picture. Even VOOM looks better on this thing.
Now, I've used Replaytv and tivo, and I think this is as easy to record off of and play back as either of those two DVR's. The buttons are very visible and big enough. The DVR guide isn't cumbersome either. And the graphic interface is clean and makes sense.
And man, is it ever easy to upload pictures from a camera with this thing. Just plug in the camera and click a little bit, and there they are. Whoa, It even has slideshow capabilities. Neat!
Hey, Guys, I know that many of you got this unit long before I did, and I'm not adding anything new to what most of you have had to say about the 942. But if you haven't had a chance to check this baby out, you really should. It is worth every penny. I think Dish Network has a winner in this thing. Hopefully, they will find a way to make these units compatible with Mpeg4. It would be a true waste if they didn't.
Good
