I'm in Venice, CA (westside of L.A. next to LAX) and am having an installer come buy around 3pm to install a 942 and sat dishes. He wanted to charge me $150.00 to install an OTA antenna. I declined his offer and after researching on this forum will buy a silver sensor to put on my roof. In order to use the sat dishes and the OTA antenna with one cable, do I need two diplexers - one for roof and one for tv? I have only one TV in my house. I want to make sure I know my stuff before the installer arrives.
Can I ask him to install the diplexers for me maybe - for "later use"

thanks !!

if you are going to have a rooftop antenna, unless you want to have 2 holes drilled in the wall, you'll need 1 pair of diplexors. 1 to combine the cables & aother to split them in two again once it comes through the wall.

The silver sensor is an indoor antenna. If you want an outdoor antenna, consider a Square Shooter.

I have the Squareshooter and it works great with my 942.
