First off, thanks to everyone on this forum for me getting this far! I could not have done it without all of your excellent help and responses to a newbie like me.
I succeeded in getting Dish where the installer told me it wouldn't work. I now have a Dish 500 pointing at 110/119, and another dish at 61.5. These feed into a DP34, which runs to my Dish 311 receiver (currently). However, when I run a check switch, I don't get anything on satellite 110. 119 and 61.5 are coming in at signal strengths around 110-120 as reported by the 311, but 0 for 110. I assume that the problems are that I poorly crimped one of the cables, or that the DP Twin LNB port 1 is bad, or that port 1 on the DP34 is bad. Can you guys think of anything else that might cause the problem?
Secondly, the 311 receiver that I bought on eBay was not deactivated. I wanted to get an unactivated receiver that I could point and get the "Congrats for pointing your dish at 61.5" channel, but when I powered it up, I got the whole channel listing of 119 and 61.5, and not all were blocked. How do I go about deactivating the receiver. I don't want to steal TV.
