A newbie question regarding reception

I live about 30 miles north of Manhattan in southern Westchester county.
I’m on the verge of taking the satellite radio plunge, but I’m concerned about reception. I live in the top floor of an apt building with a N/NE view. I realize that many factors can affect the signal, but with that in mind I have two general questions:
1. Will the lack of southern exposure be a deal-breaker?
2. Is there an appreciable difference between XM and Sirius reception?

1. In the NYC area I think you would point NW to West; so can you do that? Do you know someone that can test your location?

2. IMHO Sirius has the much better overall content and prices are so close, it would come down to what hardware I liked best and could get the best deal on. I would still go Sirius.

Thanks for the link! I was looking for something like that on the XM site but couldn’t find one.

I know that I’ll want Stern next year, so that gives Sirius the edge right now. Now I’ll do a little more research on equipment. Thanks again.

I like the XACT Stream Jockey because of its small size and ease to hide the install from intruders and that size also makes it a lot easier to mount somewhere that doesn't invade your factory dash or other parts.
