My 942 has been screwy from Day 1. Every day my timers got wiped out, and every time I turned it own, I had to run a Checkswitch and reload the EPG.
Over a couple of weeks of debugging, I eventually determined that the nightly EPG update was the culprit. Every EPG update wiped out my timers and screwed up my EPG. So I went into the menu and turned off the nightly update.
My 942 has worked fine every since.
That is, until software update L286 arrived. L286 disabled the option to turn off the daily update.
So now that my system is forced to take a daily EPG update, all of my problems are back.

I had planned to ride out this 942 until 7/1, when my original HD promo ($9.99/mo for HD Pack and VOOM) expires. But now I might have to upgrade to the 622 earlier.
Damn you Echostar! Why, oh, why did you feel that you had to take away this menu option???
