Able to watch recordings on deactivated box?

Just as the topic says,
Can i watch recordings saved on my DVR when i cancel and no longer have dish service? or does my receiver HAVE to be hooked up to a satellite and still on an active account?

I was able to watch DVR recording on a non-activated DVR....dont even need a sat connection hooked up

Yes, my experience with the 508 and VIP612 models is you can do it. Sometimes getting past the no satellite signal message is a little hard but you can. You can't watch anything from the EHD.

Awesome! I just got home and got it working. Cool feature. I just wish they didn't need this receiver back. But I have a few days to watch recordings
