Activation of 622 External Storage

Scott: Why doesn't E* just set up our on-line accounts so that we can activate external storge ourselves? This can't be that big of a deal.

Does anyone know what external hard drives are supported?
And up to what size are supported?

Name-brand ones are. DIY should work just fine too though.... I'm not sure what level of "support" I'd expect from Dish though. If it works, great. If it doesn't, there's little they'll do to fix it (immediately).

Size is up to 750gb (officially). Larger drives "should" or "may" work.
