Adding 118.7

Hi Guys & Gals,

I have a dish 1000 aimed at 119, 110 and 129 and a dish 500 aimed at 72.7. Not sure why because I thought that everything on 72.7 is on 129. I would like to move the dish 500 and aim it at 118.7 for some French channels. Is this possible?

no
you need a special LNB for 118.7 as it uses different frequencies than the other Dish satellites
I think if you order the channel they should supply the dish

My understanding

118.7 I believe will replace 119 basically just slip in front or behind it. Not sure of actual date. The new sat will absorb the extra sats or only's as I call them. You may not know exactly when they drop the only's . Might read it on this site. Will just be on peoples roofs. Not being used.

There are 2 different sats at the 119 orbital area
Echo 14 is at 119
AnikF3 is at 118.7 and is KU Band circular and used for Internationals and the Race Track Network

If you want internationals you need the special LNB that has 2 outputs. ONe is for KU (118.7) and one is for 119 (DBS)

I dont think it will work because it doesnt fit on the arm of the dish and the dish is bigger due to the lower power on 118.7

Boy is this thread full of garbage. For 118.7 you need either a DISH 500+ or a 1000+ this dish is just under a meter in width and receieves both FSS & DBS broadcasts. $115 for the dish and install is fair.

The D1000+ is 24x30 which is bigger than a D500 but that has to do with picking up 4 slots...its under a meter by a long shot

The OP can try it (rigging the + LNB to a D500) but cant guarantee results...kinda like folks using a D500 for 61.5 & 72

I have to agree a little with Boba. Save the time and aggravation and pay the $115.

This is your best bet because you will need a 1000+ and that's more than $115.
also you will need a DPP44 because i'm not sure a DP34 or SW switches will work with the 118.7 lnb, I know a DPP44 does because that's what I have installed on my 1000+.

Now a DPP44 switch is almost a $100. if not over.

You can use a DP34 if you use the Dish500+
