I have a Directv hook up question. I have been a Verizon FiOS installer the last 5 years, but I'm trying to add a new HD receiver do an existing Directv setup at my friend's place and am not familiar with satellite. So here is the situation as I know it: On the roof is a 4 Slimline 5 Dish with multiswitch. I guess it is NOT SWM? Or at least Directv told me that. There is only one RG6 coax coming down the side of the building from the dish that goes into a B-Band Converter which then goes into the HD receiver. I don't know the model # of that receiver at the moment. We are trying to add a second HD receiver which is model # H24 to a separate tv that is only 10 feet away. My questions is, how do I split it? What exactly do I need to do this. I'm only familiar with CATV setups, not satellite. Can you help? Thanks.

Assuming it's not a SWM setup, you have to run another line from the dish to the new receiver. When you remove the lnb, there should be four connections with only one being used. If there is just one, then it's a SWM.

Thanks Chip. So I just need to run another coax from the lnb down to a bbc and then into receiver? Of the 4 ports in the lnb do I just use the next available one?

Yes, any one of the ports will work.

Yep what he said. If it was SWM, you could just throw a two way in there but from your info it's not.
