DirecTV Nation,

I am new to DTV and for the first time took my portable setup camping with me this past weekend. I was unable to find a signal in the middle of the night when we arrived. The next morning I realized I was practically under some low hanging power lines. Can they negatively affect getting a signal?

well I cant say 110% for certain, but I have seen more than a few dish installs very near lines that did not exhibit any ill effects and not to the point where it blocked signal reception.

A couple lines hanging low will not effect your signal much especially if it's an 18" set up.

If your thinking it might effect it from the electricity that's not the case. If anything, it's a blocking issue.
