According to their website ( http://www.current.tv ), the new Al Gore produced channel Current TV is available in the following markets. When is Dish going to add this channel?

DirecTV
Nationwide 366

Time Warner Digital
New York City 103
Los Angeles 116
Honolulu 108

Comcast
S.F. Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, Portland, D.C., Philadelphia, Denver, Miami, Salt Lake City, Aspen, Fresno 125
Atlanta 287
Cleveland, St. Paul, Pittsburgh 107

Are you sure Current tookover newsworld.

I thought D* just removed newsworld so they could carry current, I didn't think the 2 were related...

When Dish adds that I go somewhere else. There are already enough shopping channels, and other crap using up bandwidth. How about getting us a full package of HD channels, including locals.

Second that:shocked

Third that!!
Talk about a total waste of bandwith! Al Gore is a major loser. Except for "inventing" the internet, what has he been good for? He couldn't even win his home state when he ran for President!
Tom in TX (home state of the Presidential candidate who got more votes than any candidate in history)

Reply: I'm sure E* won't miss you. I would be happy if they added CurrenTV, and I feel the amount of shopping channels is good, more variety. Not everyone has HD, so a full package of HD doesnt benefit everybody. But CurrenTV benefits everyone whether or not you like it.

Dish carries the channel that started before Current, Free Speech TV. They're pretty much the same thing, expecpt Free Speech hasn't gone beyond a PI and doesn't have all the hype and support of having Al Gore as their chairman

Not everyone wants to watch CurrenTV, Current TV, Currant TV, Algore TV, or whatever it's called. I'm glad that the shopping channels are to your taste. ;)

I'm not opposed to have Algore TV, although I won't watch it. Just as I don't watch most of the channels I subscribe to. I just don't want Algore TV beating out something more beneficial to me.

Gee. I wonder who got the second most votes of any candidate in history?

Of course, we'll never really know, as they never finished counting them. (Of course, much also depends on how much one trusts the reliability of machines with no paper backup. Considering we can't even fully trust a DVR to reliably record a TV show, I'd think twice.)

Since the channel has to do with technology I am curious of what the content would be like. I didn't vote for Al Gore but this is different in that it is a channel and that it may actually have some good content.

Well, unfortunately DirecTV is carrying this channel and you guys aren't missing anything, this channel is so freaking boring!

It's hard to explain, it's a very odd news channel. I think it is supposed to appeal to the young hip crowd, but I have yet to see anything young or hip about it, other than the commercials they keep showing, that talk about how great it is. The news anchors (if that's what you want to call them) are like bad Soap actors reading the news from que cards. It's weird, this guy is sitting on the floor of what looks to be a set from a porn movie and the camera angles are all weird...how hip!

Right now they are talking about suicide trends in Japan over the last few decades.

Snore....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

ok, now they are interviewing some random newlyweds, and they are just talking about how weird it is to be married. like the girl wears socks to bed and the guy doesn't like it, and the girl thinks it's weird that she has to answer to somebody.....arghhhhhh

I need Duct tape fast, before my head explodes!!!

Do check out the current.tv website. Al Gore was on Leno Monday night plugging the network. It is a bit odd ... mostly viewer contributed video with an occasional check to see what the most Googled websites are at the moment.

I don't see anything compelling to force the channel on to E* ...
