Alexa used to control my Dish Hopper 3 receivers. When I tried this afternoon Alexa told me my skill needed to be reactivated. I searched for Dish under Alexa skills and received the following message "This skill no longer exists"
What happened? I used that skill all the time to control my Hopper 3 receivers when I am exercising on my treadmill.

I believe that Alexa is discontinuing the skills that worked with the Alexa app so that developers will create the skills for Alexa Plus. I had tried the Alexa Plus but I went back to normal Alexa when I discovered that Alexa Plus did not work with the Dish skill, the My Acurite skill, and the My Ion skill.

Now MyAcurite no longer works with my weather station, Dish no longer controls my Hopper 3, and My Ion no longer controls my heating/cooling.

I have also noticed that Alexa is very slow in responding. Fitbit skill is also no longer linked. Alexa has taken a huge step backwards.

If you do a google search "Alexa skills no longer… you will find a large list of skills that no longer work with Alexa.

It is 8:26 and Alexa is now working again. It can control my Hopper 3, report conditions from my weather station, control my Ion thermostat, report my Fitbit results, and control my SwitchBot devices.
So everything is good again. I panicked earlier.
I changed the thread title to reflect that Alexa is now working again.

I discovered after my post that there were more "removed" skills than just the Dish one. Waited 'til today and tried again, and they're all back in the Skills. My current issue is that the skill now controls my Fire TV's DAny , rather than the Hoopper, so . . . guess that's today's unscheduled project. :-/
