I'm about to subscribe to Dish. I have checked different online tv guides and they don't show AMC & COM as being in HD. I hope that is not true, especially AMC. I will be on the EA sats from South Bend & Elkhart, IN. Also, the installer who did a survey for signal says the 77W sat. is not being used for regular programming. Is this true? I will be aiming the dish myself when I'm traveling in my RV.

Whatever tv guides you are looking at are wrong, or you are looking at them wrong. Both have been in HD for YEARS!

Yes, 77 is mostly home of international channels.

Fulltimer45, when you are ready to pull the trigger, suggest you go through DIRT, Dish Internet Response Team. Guaranteed reliable info and transaction. You can PM them by going to the bottom of the FORUM page, and look for logged on members in RED.

It was ZAPit and Titan. They list other channels as HD in the description and also show both versions of channels (SD & HD) in the tv listings but not AMC. I just went back to the ZAP it website and it only shows ch 131 as SD. I hope it's just a guide glitch.

Like I said, they're wrong. Watch both channels, and ONLY watch HD. Don't worry about it. The same channel is HD and SD with Dish. You just need to tune to the HD one, ie, 131 AMC HD, as opposed to 131 AMC. When you set your preferences to to HD only, HD is what will come up.

I know all that. You may not be familiar with these guides. I hope i'm not as dumb as I sound to you. I am a former directv customer. I appreciate the response, though.

Thanks

I just checked and there are several channels not just those 2 that Titan isn't listing in HD that are on Dish Net C time zone. I just contacted them to get their HD listings on Dish update. I sighted those 2 but told them there are many others that are not listed as HD as well.

I wish I could tell you to go to the Dish site for the correct channels being in HD, but it isn't always 100% correct there either. You will get the best answers here. The two channels you asked about are and have been in HD for quite sometime now as everyone has reported.

Installer is correct, most areas do not have a use for the 77 satellite. In fact Dish now has a two satellite Dish for 61.5 and 72.7

Thanks, there seems to be a lot of misinformation out there. I will use this forum in the future. In fact, I live in an RV without a roof mounted dish, so I use a tripod. Since it is an EA, 1000.4 dish (or will be when I sign up) and doesn't use the 77W sat., can you tell me or point me in the right direction to aim it myself without spending a ton of money for a fancy meter?
