From Nielsen - even though the number of channels is at a record high with the average American having access to 189, they only watch 17.5 of them...

According to Nielsen’s forthcoming Advertising & Audiences Report, the average U.S. TV home now receives 189 TV channels—a record high and significant jump since 2008, when the average home received 129 channels. Despite this increase, however, consumers have consistently tuned in to an average of just 17 channels.

Essentially paying for more and more channels that you never watch...

I fall below that number now. I only have access to 12 channels OTA :)

When I had Directv lets see
sports channels...probably 15 or 16
other channels (non locals)..8 maybe
