If someone has a moment, I'd like a recommendation of a good antenna set up in my area. I live in zip code 33543 in Florida. I will be mounting it on the outside of the house about 3 feet above the lowes part of the roofline.

Thanks for any advice !

the deciding factors for your antenna system are the following stations:

WTSP-DT 10.1 CBS ST. PETERSBURG FL 272° 26.7 24

WFLA-DT 8.1 NBC TAMPA FL 175° 24.8 7

WTVT-DT 13.1 FOX TAMPA FL 173° 26.6 12

a uhf only antenna (cm4228) will not work for you because of vhf channels 7 and 12 see choice #1.

You will need a rotor to receive wtsp (see choice #2 for alternative).

choice 1 - with rotor

- a combination vhf/uhf antenna with rotor...winegard hd7082p (110" see picture below) or winegard hd7084p (131" better)

-add winegard hdp 269 preamp if you are splitting signal a few times (cm7777 and winegard ap8275 high gain amps not suggested at your distances).

-mounted on a 3' tripod with a 5' mast...you can cut off the top 1.5' of the mast for lower profile.

choice #2- without rotor, requires 2 antennas

-cm4228 or cm 4221 uhf antenna pointed to 272 deg for uhf ch 24 with a channelmaster jointenna antenna combiner for ch 24

-Winegard hd7082p or hd7084p pointed to 174 degrees for all other channels

-add winegard hdp 269 preamp if you are splitting signal a few times (cm7777 and winegard ap8275 high gain amps not suggested at your distances).

-the system would also need to be properly grounded from the tripod and from a coax grounding block refore the coax enters the home to a grounding rod...or if on the same side of house as electical/power meter, you may attach ground there.

-use 100% copper 60% braid rg6 coax swept tested to 2ghz.

Rick - I couldn't have asked for a better response. I'm going to go with the option 2 you presented. Thanks so much for your help !

for 25 miles the cm4221 should work since they are rated 0-30 miles but you are toward the end of the range...the cm 4228 would be better to be on the safe side.

I spent last february to end of april in tampa on business as a consultant. Left syracuse on sunday and flew home late friday afternoon. had a wonderful time there.

Perfect...since I live at the north pole...syracuse, ny.

I could go for a cold one...right now btw.
