New guy here :)

Right now I have Time Warner, not happy with their HD lineup so Ive been thinking of switching to DTV, the last straw was ABC HD being down Sat Night and I had to watch football in SD

Any tips for me on what to ask when I call?

Should I ask for a certain model dish or receivers? I have 1 SD and 2 HD sets

also, it seems you have to make a 2 year commitment, and you get a monthly discount for the first 12 months, so they clean up on you during the second year, is that basically how it works?

Id appreciate any advice, Im probably going to make the call in the next few days, Id like to have a clue when i do :D

:D

They clean up on you as long as you stay with them after the first year.

Call and tell them you need two HD receivers and on SD. Thats all you need.

If you call directv you don't exactly get a choice of specific models. It's just HD and SD DVR or non DVR models. If you want a specific one you need go through a dealer. IMHO the best one currently available is the HR22 DVR.

My local dealer didn't have the HR22 so I had to go to best buy to get it. I think at this time both E* and D* require two year contracts so thats a non issue.
