Hello all. I'm new here so I hope that I am not asking something that has already been posted before. I currently have an HD DVR and was looking at getting another. However, after I seen the price is $199 for the unit in addition to the monthly lease fee I am re-thinking it. The first HD DVR was free to me and I am not sure if I want to spend that kind of cash right now. I'm also short on cash right now and I bought the plasma for almost nothing from my father-in-law. I have been a D* customer for almost 10 years now and was hoping they might reduce the price of it since I have been with them for so long. What are my chances??? Thanks in advance for your replies.

There has been plenty of discussion about deals or non-deals here but the bottom line is that you have to call and see what you can get from DirecTV. You may or may not be able to do better than the $199. There are so many stories and so many variations that it's impossible to say what they will do for you. You're going to pay the lease/additional receiver fee of $4.99 for the second and subsequent receivers.

All I can say is call and ask. I have had success in getting them to waive the fee on the HD-DVRs, but that was in the past. Who knows what they will do these days. Call, be polite, but firm. Clearly state what you want, and why you think they should help you out. If they decline, dont be rude. Just call back until you get the reults that you want (may be a discount, may be free)
