Any GREAT HD DVR SUPER-DEALS? (Maybe for returning a HD reciever for refund?)

Okay, here is my situation. Im calling to get a refund on my 2 month purchased DIRECTV HD reciever next week. It has defects and such. Im wondering if I can bargain my way into an awesome deal for a HD DVR to replace it. I will be recieving my $200 HD rebate any day, but I will not cash It (in case they don't want me to for return purposes). Anyone know what I could say to bargain for maybe an even trade-in, or Im willing to pay, hmmm, say, $199 (+ the orignal handling...$234) for an HD DVR. I would love to be able to cash that rebate check, let them keep the money I paid for the HD box (after the rebate=$134) and maybe pay them $100 with my credit card for them to come take the bad HD reciever and put in a HD DVR (Totaling $234). Sound bargain-able? If it does or doesn't PLEASE leave me some ideas for how to handle this, or just any method to getting a HD DVR for the lowest price possible for DIRECTV customers. Thanks.

once you apply for the rebate it is over.

the HD IRD is bad, they are gonna send you a replacement.

not being a smart *ss but this isnt "lets make a deal" and you aint monte hall.

Well, I think if I B*tch enough I will at least get my money back. If they give a replacement won't it probably be the same model anyway? I definetly do not believe that I can not get my refund under any circumstances. BTW I have heard of lots of scenarios of people getting great deals, especially ones who are long running customers. Im going to give them two options, they either give me my money back, or get me a sweet deal on different equipment. I'll still be paying a hefty price. $234+ Major Headaches from bad equipment!!! I guess this wasn't the forum to look for the deals I find on other forums. And BTW, the $499 HD DVR lease is INSANE!!! Boooooooo!!! Bad DIRECTV, Bad!

So you've had it for 2 months and you have 22 months left on your contract? Yeah, good luck... I don't think you're gonna find any specials in any forum. Best thing you can do is complain to retention and hope you get someone nice.

Ah ha. I got the HD DVR down to $299 and no handling fee. Noted to my account. Now I try to call back and get it even lower. First he dropped it to $399 and I was not going to bite, and now $299. Hopefully $99 is next. Advice is always appreciated guys.
