I have the Motorola DCX 3400 box and wonder if there is any way to transfer recorded material from the box's HDD to another medium such as a DVD or Thumb drive so it can be shared with others.

TIA,

Frank

I never found one. The DVR has an esata port, but comcast disables it. Only way I found was to play the content and feed it to a DVR recorder via the low res outputs. You can also feed from component or HDMI, but that requires an HD capture card into a PC. I have never seen an HD enabled recorder, and the folk knowlege is that it is prohibited by the HDCP copy protection specs.

Does the DCX 3400 box have a FireWire port? If so, the content is suppose to playback through that port. I never tried it, but many people talked about this option when I used to have a DVR box.

Which satellite to use?

Retrofitting RG6 to my house, need some advice
