Anyone planning to buy the iphone 17?

I'll wait for one of the summaries. Just really difficult watching that Hollywood style production. Ten minutes of useful information stretched out over an hour or more of hype. Just the facts ma'am.

I'm not on the Apple bandwagon. You mean people who just bought the previous model are "upgrading" to the newest eye candy every year? Enjoying the same Samsung A51 5G that's lasted me I forget how many years and umpteen Gorilla glass screen protectors. Works like a peach. Makes and receives calls. All the things a phone is supposed to do. What gives?
When someone "trades in" or "upgrades" to the newest model, what is the current phone's value and cost to get the newest one?

I will get a set too but it is still kind of disappointing that battery life only goes from 6 hours from the 2 model to 8 hours in the 3 model. I have $10 earbuds that last at least 12 hours or longer.

Time to upgrade my Airpods. I am still running the original. The live translation will come in handy for me.
I had the original airpods too and this year I switched to RayBan Meta glasses. I have two pair now. One with prescription lenses for close up reading and one pair with transition sunglasses.

I was impressed with the translation feature as well but Meta Glasses does the same thing. Currently only with Spanish English French and Italian. Supposed to get Mandarin soon with an update.

I had meta glasses but returned them due to the short battery life. Not to mention that people at work were upset thinking I was recording them all the time, when I never really recorded anything. I kept explaining how they light up when they were recording but people said they didn't trust it.

Compared to the rumors the biggest differences were with the new iphone 17 Slim remaining with a Titanium case and getting the A19Pro chip. I really like the Apple mag extra battery feature.

So far, haven't changed my mind on getting my wife the 17Pro. Her 12 Mini is ready for retirement. Hope Apple gives me $100 for it in trade. It's in good physical condition but the battery is at 79% last I checked. Looks like the small form factors are gone.

I was surprised that the 17 Pro went back to an Aluminum space frame instead of Titanium.

Is there enough room in the Titanium band on the iPhone Air for a USB C port? Using the AR model from Apple, the answer is yes, there is:

Comparing the 17Pro with 17 Pro Max-

Most of the specs are the same.
Display is 6.3" vs 6.9" for the 17PM
Battery life is a tad more
2 TB storage is optional but at a huge cost for the 17PM-

Disappointment- I see there is no improvement of 3D spatial video and photos over what I have with my 15 PM. I shoot a lot of 3D with my iPhone 15PM and the video is fixed at 1080P, not 4K. I was hoping for 4K, maybe next year. 3D lacks digital image stabilization. Maybe next year?...?
Regarding storage- the most 3D spatial video I ever did before downloading was just 80GB of files. My 15PM at 512GB storage handled it well.

2nd Disappointment- No 8K 30fps video. Maybe next year?...? At least the HDR is amazingly stunning.

I watched the event on my 108" wide 4K screen. Apple claims the entire event was shot on the iphone 17Pro which was impressive quality.

Who here has the Apple Care?

I was thinking of adding it for all our mobile devices. Wasn't sure how many you can list as covered for the $19.99 a month. I would want to cover 2 Apple watches, 2 iphones, 2 ipads, one Apple TV device. I also have one iMac. 8 total. Currently I only have one Apple watch on the Apple Card time payment. Suggestions?

There's something terribly wrong with the phone power comparisons that Apple has on their website.

The biggest disappointment is that the speed comparisons don't include any iPhone 16 models.

AppleCare One is a new subscription service that provides protection for multiple Apple devices under a single monthly plan, covering up to three devices for $19.99/month and additional devices for $5.99/month each. This new plan includes accidental damage protection, extended hardware service, and 24/7 technical support, with the added benefit of theft and loss coverage for iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. Devices must be less than four years old and in good condition, and may require a physical inspection or diagnostics for older devices.

How AppleCare One Works

Bundle your devices: You can cover multiple devices, such as an iPhone, iPad, and Mac, under one plan.

Monthly subscription: It's a monthly subscription service, not a one-time purchase.

Flexible plans: You can add or change devices on your plan at any time.

Key Benefits

Accidental damage protection: Covers repairs or replacements for accidental damage from drops or spills.

Extended hardware service: Extends your device's warranty and provides coverage for issues beyond the manufacturer's warranty.

Priority technical support: Offers 24/7 access to Apple experts for help with your devices.

Theft and loss protection: Provides coverage for theft and loss for your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

Getting Started

Check your devices: Ensure your devices are four years old or newer and in good working condition to qualify.

I see lots of iphone 16 versions. Which three were you trying to compare?
What do you mean by power and speed? The 17 series can charge with higher power / faster charge time due to it's improved temperature management.

Thanks! I missed the part about 3 devices plus the $5.99 for additional. I may consider it for just the three newest ones then. Wife's two and my AW Ultra. If I lose the 15PM then I I'll just have to pay for a new update a little sooner. I assume I get a replacement with a refurbished same model, not a current upgrade.

I really dont see anything that makes me want to upgrade, but honestly I feel that way about most phones that companies are putting out.

The Airpod Pro 3 translation feature is interesting, but honestly I do not see where I would really use it in any real world situation.

Anyone getting the Z fold 7
